Is there a funeral support service?
For funeral support, see Funeral Support Services of Ontario (FSSO) (opens in a new tab). A one-time family membership payment of $150 is listed for a husband, wife and minor children, plus a shared cost if a member dies that generally does not exceed $10. Confirm current terms directly with FSSO before relying on these figures.

What if I die in Canada without an Islamic will?
Possible consequences include: complications around children’s custody; estate distribution according to Canadian law rather than the intended Islamic distribution; conflict among family members over shares; absent funeral instructions; health administration decisions; and additional stress, frustration or delay for family.
A person might be sinful if their estate is distributed in an “un-Islamic” way. The Hadith cited on the home page (Bukhari 2738) is a reminder not to delay. Circumstances differ from one estate to another.
